Longer stay

You will find the cottage is in an ideal location for exploring the Limousin region, as it is so handy for the North/South toll-free A20 motorway, which is only a 10 minute drive away. Due to the rural location, a car is necessary. It is ideal for anyone looking for a base for a longer stay, whilst househunting or perhaps preparing their own place for moving into. Longer term rates are negotiable, depending on season. The cottage has a woodburning stove plus modern electric heating for Winter lets.

On the doorstep

In the immediate vicinity you will find quiet country lanes for walking or cycling (two adult mountain bikes supplied) Those of you who would like to spend a quiet day by the lakeside waiting for a bite, can purchase a day permit at the campsite reception at the nearby Lac Mondon. The village does not have any shops, but there is a bakery van which comes daily, and the small town of St. Sulpice is only a mile or so down the road, and there you will find a small supermarket, boulangeries, pharmacie, plus all other necessities. It is a bustling little town, and you can spend a pleasant hour sitting outside the bar/restaurant in the Place de l'Eglise with a coffee or beer. For an extra special meal out, not far along the road is an excellent, brand new French restaurant. Please note that it is usually essential to book your table - the restaurant gets busy at weekends. An added bonus - there is a French chef nearby who prepares take-out meals in his catering kitchen.

We are within easy driving distance from Oradour sur Glane, the martyrs' village, which has been left as a shrine since WW2, when the whole village, apart from a handful of escapees, were massacred. It's a very poignant and thought-provoking experience.

Limoges

Limoges airport is about a 45 minute drive away. Limoges is also a must for a day trip, famous for it's quality porcelain, it also has visitor attractions and a beautiful riverside. Near Limoges, Parc Bellevue is an entertaining day out for kids of all ages, and has a lovely, very clean, picnic area.

Pets welcome

We are happy to welcome your pet to the cottage for your stay.

If you need any assistance

We are on hand to offer you local information/advice or even to help with French phone calls to those of you not quite competent in the language.

In the village

If you leave the village on foot or by cycle, you will find a lovely mixture of both French and British residents living nearby. Always time for a friendly 'Bonjour' or a chat to compare notes on house renovation!

In the heat of the Summer

You will find that inside the cottage always remains refreshingly cool.  When you step inside you will feel a blast of cool air, due to the very thick granite walls.

Heating

For Winter stays, the cottage is cosy and warm, with electric heating, plus woodburning stove.
